Seven Online Marketing Strategies for Legal Professionals

The practice of law is governed by certain rules. This includes marketing, too, of course. However, don’t let the restrictions on marketing your services stop you from getting your name out there. Here are seven things you can do online to draw in new clients:
1. Have a great website.
Great websites are a lot of work, but they pay off. Give value, don’t just put up a pretty online brochure. Help your visitors.
2. Start a blog.
Blogs began as online diaries. Today, they are tools for sharing information and building relationships. Good marketing is all about relationships.
3. Write articles.
The internet is filled with sites that need content. Write articles about your practice area or local concerns and post them for others to use. When they do, your expert reputation will grow.
4. Create podcasts.
Not everyone wants to spend time reading online. Give them something to listen to, instead. Have you given a speech lately? If it was recorded, upload it and let your visitors listen on their mp3 players.
5. Make a video.
YouTube has spawned the age of marketing by video. Is there something you could record on video – with visual interest – that will make people want to learn more about your practice?
6. Use Social Media.
Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin. These sites all have tremendous marketing and relationship potential. Use them.
7. Participate in Forums.
As a legal professional, you have a wealth of knowledge to offer. Find forums where you can help and participate regularly. Share information, ask questions, spur discussion.
Each of these methods requires a commitment of time and knowledge. Use one or all, but now is the time to start building your online reputation.
